You love your cat. Let’s understand them together.
Expert cat behaviour advice, with kindness, curiosity and absolutely no judgement
Cats are wonderful. They're also complicated little souls, and sometimes they do things that leave us completely baffled.
Maybe your cat has started peeing on the bed. Perhaps your bonded cats who have lived happily together for years are suddenly fighting. Or maybe your cat bites when you try to stroke them, hides away from visitors, or does something you just can't make sense of.
When it's your cat, it's hard not to worry. No doubt you’ve spent hours searching for answers, tried everything you can think of and nothing seems to make a difference.
You're not alone. And you haven't failed your cat.
I'm Lucy, a feline behaviourist, author and lifelong cat behaviour nerd. I've spent more than 15 years helping people understand their cats, and it’s my job (and my pleasure!) to help you understand yours.
Because behind every behaviour is a unique cat with their own feelings, needs and way of seeing the world. The more we understand them as the lovely individual they are, the better we can help them.
Every cat has a story. Let’s work out yours.
I want to know about your cat. Not just what they’re doing, but who they are. What makes them happy? What worries them? What has changed recently? What have you already tried? My approach is about understanding what’s behind your cat’s behaviour, rather than simply trying to stop it. Together, we can explore what’s happening and work towards practical, kind and effective ways to help. There’s no judgement here, and no such thing as a silly question. Just a genuine interest in your cat and a desire to help you both.
How can I help you and your cat?
Every cat and every situation is different. That’s why I offer a few different ways for us to work together, depending on what you need. Whether you have a specific question or you’re dealing with a more complicated behaviour concern, we’ll find the right starting point for you.
A little about me..
I’m Lucy Hoile, a professionally accredited feline behaviourist with an MSc in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling from the University of Southampton. I’ve been helping cats and their families since 2010, and I’m also the author of The Book Your Cat Wishes You Would Read.
I’m endlessly fascinated by cats: their quirks, their relationships, the ways they communicate and all the little details that make each one an individual. I love sharing what I’ve learned so that more people can understand the cats in their lives.
Helping more people understand cats
Alongside my behaviour work, I share cat behaviour advice through television, radio, publications, my book and my YouTube channel. My aim is simple: to help more people see the world through their cats’ eyes, so we can give them happier, healthier lives.

Your life with cats is better when we understand them. They don’t have to be perfect.. You don’t have to have all the answers.. And you don’t have to work everything out on your own.
Let’s start by understanding what’s going on.

Client Feedback
“We’d recently taken in a stray cat from the neighbourhood and were struggling with integration. Lucy was able to give us a practical plan of action for moving forward with modifying behaviour patterns and increasing the happiness of our two lovely kitties. Although the process was arduous and at times we both felt like giving up, I'm pleased to say that thanks to Lucy's expert advice we have seen incredible change for the positive. Some of the steps took immediate effect, others have taken more time, but all have been beneficial. Lucy has also been on hand throughout to answer queries via text and during our follow up session two months later was incredibly patient with us both while we babbled on about our journey! We cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“Since our meeting night time has been bliss!!
We have had one night where Pancake woke us because she was a bit poorly, but apart from that we have had silence from 9:30pm-6:30am every night, even when the clocks changed - magic!! :D
So a big thank you again for your advice.”
